The Hedge Squatter

£650.00Price

'The Hedge Squatter' is named from the poet Seamus Heaney's 'Name of the Hare', which he translated from old English. Each name is supposed to call the hare to you, rather like a spell, it has always been my intention to illustrate the poem, I haven't done it yet, there are so many names, the line about this hare's specific name is ' the hedge-squatter, the dew-hammer, the dew-hopper, the sit-tight, the grass-bounder,' and so the poem goes on to describe yet more names which are given to the hare.

34x27cm (with mount approx 7cm more)
