I became very interested in drawing mountain hares and this is Meghan who is descended from one of Britain's earliest mammals whose ancestors came across in the Ice Age travelling along the land bridge which connected us with the rest of Europe.
Mountain hares are famed for their great camouflage because in winter, they turn white to hide from predators amongst the snow and in the warmer months of spring and summer return to their light brown coats, they have shorter ears than the brown hare, they shelter in a from They are fast and agile and bound in great leaps over the ground often zigzagging to avoid being caught.
