Laura is a Lesser black-backed gull chick, her parents are slightly smaller than the herring gull who like to steal your chips, your ice cream and it is rumoured by the press occasionally small children and dogs. The adult has a dark grey to black back and wings, hence the name, yellow bill and yellow legs, they scavenge a wide range of food. You can see them around the shoreline in summer and on some inland high moors. They are becoming increasingly common in urban areas.
