The song of the wren is one of the loudest and one of the most beautiful in the dawn chorus in Spring, these little birds are often seen in gardens and are one of the most popular of british birds. There have been a number of poems written about them:

'And little wren, that many a time hath sought,

shelter from showers, in huts, where I did dwell

in early Spring, the tenant of the plain

tending my sheep, and still they come to tell

the happy stories of the past again.'
