Three very young kingfishers all sitting on different branches above the river on which they live. They are learning to fish and also hoping that their parents will provide them with a free meal if they wait long enough. The flight of the kingfisher is fast and low over the river and I usually hear them before I see them as they have a specific call of a whistle.
I particularly like W H Davies poem on the Kingfisher:
'It was the Rainbow gave thee birth,
And left thee all her lovely hues...'
