The red squirrel, is the squirrel of my childhood, so small compared to the grey which was introduced into the british isles.  The red is a native of the UK rarely seen except in some corners of the British Isles, they have lived here for over 10,000 years.  Bonnie is enjoying a small feast of a hazelnut in my picture. I expect most of us will remember squirrel Nutkin from Beatrix Potter.
